I have always been involved with animals. I got seriously interested in purebred dogs in the 70's. My first venture into the world of show dogs was not quite the success I had hoped. When I bought my first Whippet Mispickel Musical Masquerade CD, we had high hopes for him, but unfortunately he was monorchid, so we had him neutered and did obedience and agility and other wonderful things with him.
Not being one to give up, I started looking again and found myself a yearling Whippet in the U.S. She became Ch. Aryal's Carrera She's a Runner and, along with Ch. Plumcreek Morshor Suite, is the foundation of our Whippets. Using a mix of top American and English lines, we have produced 25 Champions. Many of these are group placers; 6 are Group Winners. Among them are BISS winners, lure coursing Champions and dogs that have done well in obedience.
In the 80's we decided to add a Greyhound to the family, so we acquired Am.Ch. Lake Prairie's Cheyenne Autumn, aka JB. JB finished her Canadian title in style with a Group second and became number three Greyhound that year. We decided that a litter would be the next step and bred J.B. to a mostly English dog. Of the 9 puppies in her litter, 5 have been shown, 2 are pointed in the US, 3 are Canadian Champions.
All our Greyhounds have had multi-group placements. Ch. Windspiel Egyptian Princess and Ch. Windspiel Forever in Blue Jeans are both BIS winners, and their brother Ch.Windspiel Colonel Potter is a Group winner. After that litter we owned three more Greyhounds, one of which was also a Group winner.
In 1989 I discovered Chinese Cresteds and acquired my first one, a cream sable puff boy that became Ch. Beltane Spike Jones, aka Spike. Spike was the second puff to finish a title in Canada after the breed was officially recognized, and he finished his championship with several Group placements from the classes. Once again working with both English and American lines, at Windspiel we have completed 22 Crested championships, 11 of those being homebreds with group wins to their credit.
Here at Windspiel we are proud of ACCC/PR/Int/Am.Can Ch. Chargi's Kaleidoscope who was the first Multi- Best in Show Chinese Crested in Canada, also ranking in the top 10 Toys. Both Kaleidoscope and Ch.Bayshore's Walkie Talkie, a Group winner, have made wonderful contributions to our success. Our foundation girls Can.Am.Ch. Xi'a Xi'Ang's Chi Chi Lachunga Alltot HoneySuckle contributed to the Windspiel Chinese Crested line.. Several other Windspiel kids are pointed, and a couple of youngsters are waiting in the wings to begin their careers.
